In her excellent book, Louise Richardson describes six rules for countering terrorism:
- Have a defensible and achievable goal.
- Live by your principles.
- Know your enemy.
- Separate the terrorists from their communities.
- Engage others in countering terrorists with you.
- Have patience and keep your perspective. (pp. 203-233)
It appears that the present administration is doing almost the opposite of all of these rules. We need to increase our intelligence - in both meanings.
